Services

Freight forwarding has been defined as “providing logistics services as an intermediary between the shipper and the carrier”. Depending on what you need to move to where, several details can be involved:

  • Load items at origin,
  • Transport via highway and/or rail to port,
  • Clear to load onto ship,
  • Sail to new port,
  • Clear to off-load ship,
  • Transport via highway and/or rail, and
  • Unload at final destination.

Let us handle those details for you.

We would love to be the “travel agents” for your freight!

Whether you need to store your items for a few days or a few months, we can provide a safe and secure location. Cargoways has close to one million square feet of total covered warehouse storage space throughout facilities in Charleston, Houston, New Orleans, Norfolk, and Savannah, plus almost 100 acres of additional yard area. We can also handle the arrangements for storage anywhere else it is needed. Foreign Trade Zone space is available in our Houston and Norfolk locations.

Our newly purchased property, “The 555 Gellhorn” in Houston features 240,000 SF of covered space, operational 5 & 10 ton cranes, drive-thru doors, and 24/7 on-site security checkpoint.

Cargoways can provide expert guidance on customs regulations, tariff, classification and duty rates at a lower cost to you. Let us simplify the paperwork of moving and storing your cargo by taking care of:

  • Formal / Informal entries
  • FTZ entries
  • Warehouse entries
  • Transportation entries
  • Working with government agencies such as APHIS, DOT, ETA, F&W;, FCC, FDA, PPQ, USDA

Containers are probably the most recognizable method of transporting cargo across the oceans of the world. The ports, routes, and carriers selected can all have a dramatic effect on the time and cost involved in shipping your cargo.

Cargoways has years of experience with the importing and exporting of containers (FCL & LCL) to and from any port and destination in the world to help you make the best choices for your particular situation. In addition to booking your ocean freight, we can also provide packing, stuffing, and drayage services.

If it’s too big to fit in a container but it needs to travel by sea, we can book your cargo regardless of size or shape.

We specialize in RORO and LOLO including everything from steel pipe, oil rigs, generators, road building equipment, yachts, trucks & autos, bell-type annealing furnaces, to whatever you need to ship. Tell us where and we’ll get it there!
